Chief Advocacy and Policy Officer, Meals on Wheels America

Josh Protas

Josh is the Chief Advocacy and Policy Officer at Meals on Wheels America. In this position, he oversees all advocacy campaigns and initiatives designed to support and strengthen the nationwide network of senior nutrition programs and the individuals they serve. Josh is responsible for building partnerships and coalitions and representing Meals on Wheels America and local programs before Congress, the Administration, anti-hunger and aging advocates and other audiences to achieve legislative and policy priorities. 

Prior to joining Meals on Wheels America in April 2024, Josh was Vice President of Public Policy of MAZON: A Jewish Response to Hunger where he established and led MAZON’s Washington, D.C. office.  
 
Josh is trained as a historian, earning his Master of Arts in Western American History and Public History from Arizona State University and his Bachelor of Arts in American Studies and French Literature from Wesleyan University. He lives in Takoma Park, Maryland with his wife, Abby Foss, and their children Eli, Noah, and Cory. ers, practitioners, and policymakers.
