    U.S. Senators Marco Rubio (R-FL), Tina Smith (D-MN), and Rick Scott (R-FL) introduced the Social Engagement and Network Initiatives for Older Relief (SENIOR) Act to address senior loneliness. This legislation is supported by the National Council on Aging, Coalition to End Social Isolation and Loneliness, Senior Resource Alliance, and Centerstone.

  • Improving Measurements for Loneliness and Isolation Act

    The undersigned organizations write to express our strong support for the Committee’s consideration and passage of the Improving Measurements for Loneliness and Isolation Act (H.R.6284). Importantly, this legislation would establish a national working group to create recommendations for standardizing the measurements and definitions of social isolation and loneliness for public and private research and clinical use. We urge its swift passage.

    My organization, and the 54 organizations listed below, write today requesting that the House Energy and Commerce Committee, Subcommittee on Health, hold a legislative hearing on HR 3073, the bi- partisan Community Mental Wellness and Resilience Act. Our organizations work in the mental health and human services fields. We believe that HR 3073 will be a major step forward in helping to prevent and heal mental health problems among the people we work with, and nationwide, by supporting and funding community-based initiatives that strengthen their residents capacity for mental wellness and resilience for all types of adversities.

  • Rural Health Care Request for Information

    On behalf of the Coalition to End Social Isolation & Loneliness (the Coalition) we appreciate the opportunity to comment on the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Ways and Means’s (the Committee) request for information (RFI) on improving access to health care in rural and underserved areas. We commend the Committee’s efforts to explore and act upon how geographic barriers and consolidation may be driving facility closures and workforce shortages. We support efforts that will help Americans lead more socially connected, healthier lives by meeting people directly in the communities they live, work, and play.
